Get in nerds, we're doing etiquette and dance lessons.
Specifically, sometime around Justinian 15, Riftwatch's personnel will all be required to go learn to dance and have a fake fancy dinner while benevolent overlords (Bastien and Lexie, with Byerly as a bad example on display) tell them where to put their elbows and how to hold their forks and/or pretend to be people who must be impressed on pain of death. They'll also be asked to dress the way they would dress if invited to a dinner with nobility, so they can doll up if they want, or they can just show up in their underwear, if they want to be passive aggressive and weird about it.
This is going to be mandatory for everyone IC—I got permission from the Division Heads and everything—so whether or not your character wants to participate or feels like they should have to do so is irrelevant. They're going. But if you don't want to participate OOC, that's obviously okay! There will be two different days/sessions, handwaved and not-handwaved, so anyone who doesn't participate in the log can just say they were at the handwaved session and nothing exciting happened.
(If you want to say they absolutely refused to participate whatsoever, that's also fine, but we should probably have an IC conversation about it, because that sounds hilarious, and also their name will go on a NON-COMPLIANCE list for the Division Heads to keep in a drawer somewhere, or something.)
There will also be an announcement of this IC soon, so if your character is outraged by the suggestion that they need to learn how to hold a fork when they've been holding a fork their entire life, they'll have an opportunity to express that. Don't worry.
If you do plan to participate, as in actually tag into a log about dance lessons and pretending to have a fancy dinner, please sign up in the comments by the end of the day on June 14. The log will go up sometime next weekend.
